Peridot has a nose for gold. It's a trait common to all types of dragons, from big to small, no matter what their nature or their diet or their habitat. There's nothing special about her, in that regard. What every dragon doesn't have, is the small size and inherent nosiness that Peridot possesses, which has inexorably drawn her inside this strange little human structure.

Dragons love treasure. It's a well known fact, and it's the reason why she's been lingering in here for far too long. Crawling in through one of the battered windows had been easy enough, and from there she had just followed her nose deeper into the house, down into the basement where, lo and behold! Riches lay in wait.

That's how Lapis will likely find her: in the process of tearing apart her basement stash, pulling out jewels and gold and silver from very containers, in order snuffle at them and roll around in a massive pile of wealth.

Then she'd better catch up.

Lapis, as a thief, has a great natural dexterity. And also unbound limbs, though she's probably no tree dwelling dragon good, but that's a moot point right now because of said tree dwelling dragons limbs.

She does, however, have the courtesy of waiting for Peridot just outside her den. "Come on, the sooner we get this done the sooner I can go back for a nap." Lapis you just woke up.

"It's not like you wont be able to come back to it now and again." Lapis replies with a roll of her eyes. She just doesn't want Peridot living in it. "I'm not going to keep you completely trapped in the basement, you know." Even if it'd probably be the smarter thing to do.

Lapis sticks out the bag expectantly, holding it open while balancing on a branch.

That's fair, since her claws are cuffed, but it's not exactly fun to watch. Especially with all the dragon drool now coating said gold coins and jewels.

"What, dragons don't just visit places for old times sake?"

"Maybe, but think about how much more space you've got to fill with junk now." It is an entire basement, thought Lapis is a realist and figures that even if she wants it real bad, she'll never have enough coin on the floor to fill the entire two bottom stairs.

That would be the life.

"I say junk affectionately." She rolls her eyes, letting go of the bag with one hand to give a small wave. "I call all my treasure junk too." It helps that it makes other people less inclined to steal it.

"It's a human thing." She waves off the comment again. Maybe one day the dragon will understand how weird humans are. "Lots of other races don't really get it either."

Once Peridot is gone for more than a few seconds, Lapis cautiously edges closer to the hollow.

"Everything alright in there?"

Well, she's definitely impressed enough to let out a low whistle when she sees it. Is that real gold? Seems kind of bad to make a shield out of such a soft metal.

It's probably for decoration, but it's definitely pricey looking, that's for certain. She reaches forward with her one hand before she thinks better of it.

"You want some help with that one?"

She absolutely sees that, and she raises an eyebrow, but doesn't bother asking. It's not like she's going to take it and run off with it. The dragon unfortunately knows where she lives, after all.

Lapis grabs it, pulling to help dislodge it from the tree hole while balancing the sack of goods against the trunk for a little more balance. She'd really rather not fall from this height after all.

"Good," Lapis says, stuffing the shield into the bag. The bag she's definitely glad she snatched from that weirdo barons stash a few years ago. It makes carrying everything so much easier.

She offers the bag to Peridot. "I'm going to need both hands to get down the tree, so." Please take it? It's also all your junk.

How convenient. Lapis has to climb down like the non gliding non dragon she is.

She drops to the ground on the last branch and gently dusts herself off from any lingering loose bark she'd gotten stuck to her. "Anything else we need while we're out in the middle of the woods?"

Just in case there's something else she might need to know about.

"Alright, good. Come on, let's go drop this stuff back off." And then Lapis can figure out a plan of action from there, because she's still not sure how long she wants to be out of town for as they try in vain to look for the thief and only end up with a convenient scapegoat.

"Wow, fine. I'll take them off." This dragon is super impatient, honestly, Lapis thinks even if she'd be just as unhappy being chained up. She'll move over to undo the chains, draping them over her shoulder for now. They're expensive, and she's not just going to chuck them, after all.

"Better?"
