Name: Peridot (25FL-5XG)
Canon: Steven Universe
Canon Point: Log Date 7 15 2
Age: Thousands of years old
History:
PREVIOUS HISTORY AT THISAVROU: Peridot originally entered the game universe from a canon point in the middle of the episode "Friend Ship", right after trapping her then-enemies the Crystal Gems inside of a gem colony ship. She entered through the Ingress on the second month of the Moira's journey and was originally assigned as a lighting tech for the ship, rooming on Mero deck. From that point on she was present for many of the ship's earlier escapades, including the disaster on Caducus Primary (and the subsequent invasion of the ship that came much much later, as a result of that), up through the Moira's stop at the Runoff. After that point, she and a small group of crew members (including but not limited to Ratchet and Sans) decided that they were dissatisfied with the progress the captains were making, and took a small personal craft and struck out on their own.
CANON HISTORY: Here
Personality: When Peridot was first introduced to the series, she played the role of the show’s first actively dangerous antagonist as an agent of the mysterious and nefarious Gem homeworld. The Crystal Gems viewed her as an immediate threat, an image that she supported through a cold demeanor and ruthless tactics. She even attempted to kill Steven on multiple occasions, and was working towards the imminent destruction of the entire Earth.
Thanks to her previous time spent on the Moira, she has come a long way since her first days of taunting and antagonizing Steven and his friends, even if she still has a ways to go. Peridot is a Gem who, in addition to being naturally stubborn and prone to frustration when things don’t go her way, just thinks differently than most other people. She has a shrewd and calculating approach to tackling problems, and she values objectivity and logic above almost anything else. When she first started working alongside the show’s protagonists, she didn’t know how to factor unpredictable forces such as emotion and sentiment into her calculations, because she simply did not understand them or their relevance. We see this ignorance at it’s finest on the Moon Base, where she voiced her rather controversial opinions about the true effect of Rose’s supposed victory on the Earth; IE, she viewed that struggle as ultimately pointless, as it directly resulted in Homeworld implanting the Earth with the Cluster, putting them all in the peril they were facing at the time. This is a prime example of how her mind works, and, UNSURPRISINGLY, she could not fathom why her Crystal Gem allies were so ruffled by her simply stating objective fact. She generally has a hard time empathizing with other people, and even lacks the proper terminology with which to discuss her own feelings.
At first, this was a major obstacle that kept her from really understanding other people’s perspectives, and it took her a while to learn that efficiency and logic don’t automatically make a given solution the “best” solution. This is something she's still working to improve on.
One of Peridot’s greatest strengths is her intelligence and propensity for quick thinking. She is exceedingly clever, and it’s a trait that she’s both aware of and loves to brag about whenever she gets the chance, claiming that she’s “smarter than the average Peridot”. Indeed, she has a tendency for boastfulness and overconfidence that can come off as grating to many people. This behavior seems to be, at least in part, a defense or coping mechanism to help preempt the negative judgements of others. Made on a planet facing a crisis of dwindling resources, and emerging into a society that prioritizes function and productivity over just about everything else, it’s no surprise that she would slip into the habit of talking herself up as much as possible. On Homeworld, she likely felt the need to justify her existence (an existence made possible at the expense of some of those limited resources) and prove that she’s just as good, if not better than any other Peridot, regardless of her lack of powers and small size. As a byproduct of this, she is practiced in taking what others may cite as weaknesses and spinning them into strengths that only add to her impressive nature. She’s not short, she’s compact. Her size only adds to her rarity and importance. Etc, etc.
You only have to look at how much her tolerance of other types of Gems and Humans has grown to see that she has become fairly open-minded as well, and is capable of learning quickly. Her understanding of Earth and human culture, while still far from perfect, has vastly improved in just a matter of months. That’s not to say she doesn’t still have tolerance issues; Kindergarten Kid was a good indication that she still has a lot to work on as far as her ability to understand others goes, and the carnival is sure to provide many opportunities for putting that to the test. Her innately blunt personality can cause friction on that front, and it makes her a bit difficult to get along with. However, those who can look past her weird quirks and rather rude manner of speaking to stick around long enough to earn her trust will find Peridot to be an incredibly loyal person. She’s genuine and straightforward in her convictions, and isn’t afraid to mouth off to a higher-up in order to stick up for someone she cares about.
Abilities/Skills:
Most of Peridot’s unique powers come from the "limb enhancers" granted to her back on Homeworld, which compensate for the limitations in her natural abilities that she experiences due to being an 'era two' gem. They're sort of like cybernetic augmentations that she wears on her person at all times.
Other abilities:
Strengths/Weaknesses:
Strengths: Like all gems, she doesn’t actually require food or rest, making her THE ULTIMATE LABOR FORCE. She doesn't get sick, is exceedingly sturdy and can take more physical punishment than an average human can. Also doesn't need to breath, can survive in the cold vacuum of space. Very smart.
Weaknesses: Despite Peridot’s technical prowess, operating equipment that is unfamiliar to her tends to frustrate her (especially if she considers it ‘archaic’). Can and will pitch a fit if teammates try to deviate from express directions on a mission. Very rude, does not always play well with others, snippy and prickly at the best of times. Lacks palms to deliver high fives with.
Items: Just the limb enhancers!

Abilities/Skills:
- Regeneration: Technically, the true core of Peridot’s physical existence is the gem set into her forehead, while the rest of her is really sort of a hard light projection. If her projected humanoid form is damaged, she can retreat back into her gem for some time and regenerate, and reform good-as-new a few weeks later.
- Immortality: Gems don’t actually age, and they don't really die either. The closest thing a gem can experience to death is shattering, and even then the remaining shards often still retain some semblance of consciousness.
- Metallokinesis: At her current canon point, Peridot has not yet discovered this power, but she is capable of levitating metal objects with her mind. (ALL metal, notably; not limited to iron.)
Most of Peridot’s unique powers come from the "limb enhancers" granted to her back on Homeworld, which compensate for the limitations in her natural abilities that she experiences due to being an 'era two' gem. They're sort of like cybernetic augmentations that she wears on her person at all times.
- "Limb Enhancer" gloves: The fingers hover separately from the main part of the device, and can rearrange themselves to form numerous tools such as the frame of a holo screen, an energy blaster, and even a tiny set of helicopter blades allowing limited flight. They also seem to be rather dextrous, are capable of supporting the weight of the rest of her body, they can conduct an electric pulse, and they can project a kind of freezing energy that she can zap other people and inanimate objects with, allowing her to lift/move around things that might ordinarily be beyond her capacity to carry.
- "Limb Enhancer" Boots: Unlike the gauntlets, they’ve only displayed two unusual functions so far. THESE ARE: A sort of anti-gravity mode, which enables her to scale sheer surfaces of any material (NOT just magnetic metal surfaces; the one time we see her use this, she’s actually seen running up a sheer rock face). The other arguably less impressive feature is that she can propel the boot off of her leg, detaching it quickly should any obstacles or Stevens latch onto it in an attempt to bring her down.
Other abilities:
- Extremely advanced general technical know-how.
- Can pilot small to large sized spacecraft
- Intimate knowledge of constructing and maintaining different kinds of communications arrays
- Building advanced equipment out of seemingly useless junk
- Data gathering and management
- She knows a shitload about rocks and minerals because her actual job back home was growing other gems.
