Action/Video; Route 35, BACKDATED early February

[peridork]

[The video starts up at an awkward angle; it seems like Peridot's Pokegear has been hastily dropped on the ground mid-record, giving the whole network a nice closeup shot of some tall grass.

Suddenly the camera rights itself. It looks like Clod the elgyem has grabbed the device and is now staring pleadingly into it, looking unusually distressed. The pokemon turns the camera on the source of the upset:

It's Peridot, alongside her newly caught male nidoran, and the two of them are dangling several feet off the ground. The culprit behind this levitation trick? An extremely angry looking drifloon with an unusual looking puff atop its head, who has both of its stringy little appendages wrapped around pokemon and trainer alike. Apparently, even though Peridot is not actually a child, this drifloon thinks that she looks the part enough to want to try and drag her off to the netherworld or wherever the heck it is that drifloons like to drag unfortunate kids that they get their sinister little mitts on.

Clod waves frantically at the camera again, light-up fingers all flashing a warning red, SOS SOS SOS!!!]

[A few minutes later, another video goes up, and this time Peridot herself is back on the screen. She looks a little banged up and very frustrated, but otherwise appears fine.]

Ugh... Is there anyone around Route 35 who has a flying pokemon who can come transport me back to Goldenrod City? I believe I have injured myself to the point where walking is not a feasible option.

[She scrubs a hand over one eye, groaning.]

Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

We can be out there soon.

[He'll just grab his coat and head to the door.]

It shouldn't take me more than an hour. Can your Pokemon help you out to the main path, or can you not walk at all?

I can walk, it just hurts.

[None of her Pokemon are really big enough or. Not venomous enough. To help her get anywhere.]

Should I set up some kind of signal or something?

That's all right, I just wanted to check.

If you can, that would be helpful. It'll be easier to spot from the air.

[peridork]

Mmgh. I'll have my elgyem try and flash its lights for you, would that work?

[wing_attack]

That should work.

[There's a large bird in the background, and Tobias hops onto Regal.]

All right. I'm heading out now. I'll be there soon.

[peridork]

Alright, I'll just. Drag myself back out to the main path now, and wait, I guess.

[And so she does.]

[And true to his word, about forty five minutes later a large bird comes swooping down from the sky, beckoned by blinky Pokemon lights. Tobias and Regal land and head over to her.]

Hey there. Let's get you onto Regal. I can sit behind you so you won't fall off.

[peridork]

[She struggles to her feet, staring apprehensively at the Pokemon. She’s very obviously not putting much weight on one foot, thus the distress call.] Nnngh… Are you sure that thing can carry the both of us?

[wing_attack]

Of course he will. It might be a little tight, but it'll be fine.

[He looks down at the Elgyem, smiling.]

Thank you for signaling us.

[Regal shuffles over and lowers himself down as far as he can so Peridot can get on him. Tobias offers her a hand, but doesn't push it in case she wants to get on herself.]

[peridork]

[Clod blinks slowly and then holds its little hands up, flashing them again in acknowledgement. She doesn't emote much, but it is nice to be recognized.

For her part, Peridot grunts and takes that hand uncertainly, starts to clamber on, trying not to lose her balance and fall face flat on top of the poor Pokemon. When she gets settled at last, her hands hover awkwardly above Regal's plumage, not sure where to grasp on.]

[wing_attack]

[He climbs on behind her, legs gripping his Pokemon carefully.]

You can hold on just above his wing joints. The feathers there are in pretty tightly so you won't have to worry about pulling. He's pretty used to people holding on. I can balance on him pretty well, and we're not going that far.

[peridork]

[She glances back at him, only acknowledging his instructions with a blink before placing her hands in the described spot.]

You mean like this?

[wing_attack]

That's right. Hang on.

[Regal flaps, and lifts off the ground, heading towards the city. It shouldn't take all that long, and he knows where the 'human Pokecenter' is by now. Tobias fell enough while working on tricks...]

[Cecil isn't close enough to help directly, but that doesn't mean he can't try.]

I don't suppose you've subscribed to the PokéStar service, have you? It could be helpful, until you acquire the ability to fly with your own team.

[peridork]

I-- No, I haven't. [She frowns.] What is it?

[paladinlost]

It's a system that allows you, among other things, to request emergency assistance if you cannot return to a city by yourself. I believe the basic service is completely free.

[peridork]

[She facepalms, slowly dragging her hand down her features and looking exhausted.]

...Well that would have been good to know about before I went out on this little excursion.

[paladinlost]

At least you'll be aware of it next time. Though they truly should inform every new arrival of its existence, or even include it automatically with every Pokégear.

[She sounds extremely annoyed:] What the heck are you even talking about?

Yeah because I was injured and then had to make my way back to the city, you dolt.

[GASP] OH, NO! ARE YOU ALL RIGHT NOW, AT LEAST? THIS WORLD'S HEALING MAGIC IS QUITE ADVANCED, THOUGH!

Or I guess it looked like it was the other way around.

She scowls, clearly irked by the jab.]

Your smug and ironic commentary is not conducive towards my finding a solution to this problem.

[Annoyed, but trying to hide it:] Then why are you bothering to respond to my call?

[She sounds legitimately confused about this. The concept of just messing with people is one she still doesn't quite grasp.]

[The look she gives him is an exceedingly unimpressed one.]

I am not bleeding, no, but I feel compelled to point out that advice that sounds like the opposite of what you are supposed to do in such a situation, from what I’ve come to understand.
