Peridot has a nose for gold. It's a trait common to all types of dragons, from big to small, no matter what their nature or their diet or their habitat. There's nothing special about her, in that regard. What every dragon doesn't have, is the small size and inherent nosiness that Peridot possesses, which has inexorably drawn her inside this strange little human structure.
Dragons love treasure. It's a well known fact, and it's the reason why she's been lingering in here for far too long. Crawling in through one of the battered windows had been easy enough, and from there she had just followed her nose deeper into the house, down into the basement where, lo and behold! Riches lay in wait.
That's how Lapis will likely find her: in the process of tearing apart her basement stash, pulling out jewels and gold and silver from very containers, in order snuffle at them and roll around in a massive pile of wealth.

Peridot decides not to ask.
"Eh? Oh. Down here will be just fine," she says, tucking her new gem under both front paws.
Hope you're ready for all your stuff to get pulled out and thrown into one big sleepin' pile, Lapis. At least until Peridot gets her sleepin' shield back from her den.

Unfortunately for Lapis, some of her stuff already has been pulled out and strewn around, which is. Less than optimal, honestly.
"We'll grab your stuff tomorrow when it's light out." No point in running around in the woods at night. That's just asking for trouble.

"What, you can't see in the dark?" Peridot teases, amused. She's already looking more and more comfortable down here, sprawling out across the floor with her rear legs stretched out behind her.

Once the sun rises, Lapis starts on making breakfast, just something simple for her, and a plate of cow for Peridot. Unlaced this time, thankfully for the dragon.
"Time to get up, it's morning." Well, a little past morning, but it's not like she adheres to a schedule.

Soon as the basement door opens she's up, ears perked straight up, green eyes peering out over the edge of the nest. She extricates herself slowly, stretching her tail and all six of her limbs, showing off a what is frankly an alarming wingspan for such a tiny dragon, before padding over to the plate. She feels great. She's never had enough loot before to make a nest quite that good, and it's fantastic. Maybe it'll be even better, once she has her shield back.

She really should have known.
"You look like you've made yourself at home." She comments, moving back when Peridot moves forward towards the plate. She doesn't want any meat chunks flying at her, thanks.

She wrinkles her snout. "What? Of course not!" Yeesh. "You really don't know anything about dragons, do you?"
no subject
"I know significantly less than a dragon, yeah." She knows that some of them get big and some of them make a habit out of eating people and that some of them breathe fire now.
